Polaroid, Peak View, Hong Kong for Christmas - William Furniss Photography

Polaroid, Peak View, Hong Kong for Christmas

This is an archival pigment print face-mounted to acrylic in a 4mm wide 30mm deep black wood frame. Limited edition, signed and numbered on the back of the face-mounted panel.

Edwin H. Land's invention of Polaroid photograph in 1947 led to many wonderful materials for photographers to work with. For me the greatest was the Polaroid Type 55 which gives you the most beautiful negative as part of the process. It is an incredibly rare film now and in the world there can only be a few useable sheets remaining. I have just one box left and to use a sheet requires a very special subject. In this image I have shot from my favourite rock on the Peak and once back in the studio processed the instant film and immediately scanned it whilst still covered in it developing chemicals, what is known as its uncleared form. It is a process that epitomises the art of film photography.
