Up on top of Äkäskero Fell, layer upon layer of frost gathers on trees to create wonderful abstract shapes. Called tykky or suffering trees, individuals can accumulate up to 6000kg of snow in this way over the course of the winter. Painfully beautiful. In the valley below iced over wetlands make for a landscape photographer's playground.
Here are small selection of limited edition prints from a recent trip up above the Arctic Circle in Finland.
Inspired by C.S.Lewis' The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe; here are windows and doorways into a frozen world. To achieve this the photographs are made using archival pigment inks, face mounted to matte acrylic to avoid reflections, and then framed in snowy white maple.
Sizes range from collectable 20x30cm works, up to, in the case of the verticals, a door sized 120x180cm. Framing, and shipping worldwide, are included in the pricing. We are happy to discuss framing alternatives.
