The Vanishing Neighbourhood
From the founding of modern Hong Kong in 1842 Queen's Road West has always been a traditional Chinese neighbourhood. This road full of memories and history, is undergoing radical change, its spirit ever more rapidly being stripped away as the eyes of property developers have fallen on it, with the arrival of MTR stations at Sai Ying Pun and HKU. In an effort to capture the street and its inhabitants for posterity, I shot a book, commissioned by and in aid of the Sovereign Art Foundation, "Queen's Road West, the vanishing neighbourhood." These are some of the images. For the full story find the book in the Shop section of this site.
