Cities are founded on their relationship with water. It is the essential element of every city worldwide. Whilst it creates it is also an agent of entropy. This is the theme I look to capture in these fleeting moments of beauty and danger as a city is reflected in the water around it. Hong Kong's typhoon shelters embody this concept perfectly and they have provided a wealth of images.
There is no photoshop trickery here, just straight photographs taken with my large format camera and very long, telephoto lenses. Often I shoot at night when colour and contrast are at their most extreme. The rhythms of wind, tide and weather also have a say.
