Hong Kong Harbour at Night - William Furniss Photography

Hong Kong Harbour at Night

Cities are founded on their relationship with water. It is the essential element of every city worldwide. Whilst it creates it is also an agent of entropy. This is the theme I look to capture in these fleeting moments of beauty and danger as a city is reflected in the water around it. Hong Kong's typhoon shelters embody this concept perfectly and they have provided a wealth of images. London, New York, and Dubai are also represented.

There is no photoshop trickery here, just straight photographs taken with my large format camera and very long, telephoto lenses. Often I shoot at night when colour and contrast are at their most extreme. The rhythms of wind, tide and weather also have a say.

This is a beautiful archival print front mounted to acrylic with dibond backboard and aluminium hanging system. Limited edition, signed and numbered on the back. Printing and mounting are conducted as close as possible to the purchaser's location to minimise environmental impacts.
