I am planning an arctic photographic workshop in Lapland, from 18th to 24th February 2024, in the Seven Fells area near Kittilä, in Finland.
We will be backcountry skiing through snow covered forests, staying in lumberjack cabins deep in the woods, night-hiking up fells, and generally having a delightfully cold time in beautiful scenery. There will also be the possibility of dogsledding, snowmobiling, and visiting reindeer. Saunas will be available to warm people up! All this wrapped around an effort to take really good winter landscape photographs.
Note no prior experience of snowshoeing or backcountry skiing is required.
Current itinerary Day 1 snowshoeing, Day 2 backcountry skiing, Day 3 snowshoeing, Day 4 Dogsledding or snowmobiling, Day 5 optional activities (additional costs depending on activity). The activities are subject to small changes due to weather and optimal photo conditions, for instance hunting for northern lights! All the while I will be available for photography coaching, my colleague and and expert guide Riitta Hänninen will be making sure we optimise on the photographic opportunities in the Seven Fells area.

The cost listed is inclusive of: necessary equipment for all activities(not including clothing or camera equipment), food and accommodation from night of 18th February to night of 23rd February, one of the special activities on 22nd February (dogsledding or snowmobiling, as yet to be determined), pick-up and return to Kittilä Airport. Airfares and insurance are not included.
